WaterColor is one of two master-planned communities (the other being WaterSound Beach) currently being developed by Arvida, a St. Joe company, along Scenic 30-A. The 499-acre resort was designed by acclaimed architect, Jaque Robertson, on land held by the St. Joe Company® since 1927.

A prominent feature of this new community is the WaterColor Inn. The inn (dubbed by Arvida as, “The Coastal Retreat with a Southern Accent”) was designed by acclaimed restaurant designer, David Rockwell. Rockwell’s impressive accomplishments include designing over 60 Planet Hollywoods. The inn combines the warmth and hospitality associated with traditional Southern grand hotels, the intimacy of bed-and-breakfast inns and the charm of classic beach houses.

WaterColor is also home to Fish Out of Water, one of Scenic 30-A’s newest and best restaurants. Here you will find choice selections of the finest local seafood and prime cuts of meat in an inventive duneside setting with a Sushi Bar, exhibition kitchen, private wine room dining among international vintages, and other artful touches. The restaurant boasts a wine collection of 3000 bottles, representing some 325 labels.

Ammenities: WaterColor and WaterColor Inn guests enjoy access to a variety of diversions situated throughout the 499-acre community. Western Lake, a rare, 220-acre coastal dune lake bordered by coastal pine forests, is among them. The BoatHouse outfits canoe, kayak, and sailing excursions, while the BaitHouse Restaurant serves the catch of the day and other simple fare.

The gulf-front Beach Club with its oversized pool deck and grill, beach sundries, showers and complimentary towel service is conveniently located adjacent the inn as is WaterColor Workout, a full-service exercise gym. Cerulean Park, linking gulf to lake, is WaterColor’s central gathering space, and Town Center is a collection of retail shops, offices, and the WaterColor Market. Hiking and biking paths unfold in an extensive woodland trail system within WaterColor. Nearby state parks offer differing perspectives of coastal dune lakes, sand pine scrub, longleaf pine flatwoods, cypress ponds, wet prairies and titi swamps.
